I have got two consecutive LUDs (04/10/08 and 04/11/08) on my already approved I140(Approved 2006). There was one in Dec'2007 too. My PD is Nov'2005.
I realise this is probably a basic thing but How does one find out if they had a "LUD" on their case.

It is a "lawful". What he meant is that, it is not an "admittance" as per USCIS terms.
AP is not used for "parole you in". Visa is used to "admit" you to USA.
And for 485 adjudication, USCIS specifially is interested in the period after your last "admitance" to USA (but before filing of 485).
Another way to explain that is that when applying for AP you are requesting permission to travel outside of USA, or to spend temporary time outside USA. When applying for visa you are requesting permission to enter (or re-enter) USA.

This is the answer to What to do?
We should campaign for & lobby for this easy, non-controversial bill HR.5921.
First we have to force the House Immig Sub Committee and then Judiciary Full Committee to complete the Mark up of this Bill, which will make the bill to be debated on the floor of the house.
Second: After the mark up is over, we need to campaign for proper support in the house to get this passed.
Before all these: We need to know what the IV CORE has to say & What are the future plans!
Is there any update from IV core? Any new action item that we should be working on to get some relief this year?

How does one pay taxes on NRE & FCNR accounts? I mean, Indian banks do not issue 1099-INT forms like US banks do. Do they issue some kind of certificate in lieu of that form? Calculating taxes on FCNR accounts can be little easier as they pay you interest in dollars, but how do you calculate taxes on NRE rupee accounts? At what conversion rate you convert your rupee interest in dollars? Also, I know you have to report your accounts abroad to the US treasury dept, ONLY if the total amount in those accounts together exceeds $10,000 any time in any year as instructed in 1040-Schedule B. So if it is below $10k, you do not need to report and if you do not report, then how do you pay taxes on it? If you still need to pay, then what documents you need to provide to IRS from your Indian bank?
I am pretty sure this can be very useful for those have or plan to have bank accounts in their native countries for meeting local expenses. So please share your knowledge and information here.

We will be talking to the Lawyers, one of the objective of this post was to get enough information to educate ourselves and prepare appropriate questions for the lawyer.
if he is part of that company for three Years and in that if he is a manager for an year, he will be eligibile for L1A. Then can apply GC without labor and should be able to get GC in 1 year
If he is part of that company for an year, then he can get L1B and can apply for EAD for this wife within 6 months of I-94 dates.
But i'd suggest to try for L1A and get GC like an instant coffee at StarBucks.
Take a lawyer advise. The immigration lawyer in their company can do it. Or pay 350$ to sheela murthy and get a full advise.
Or there are lot of chaps in this firm who carry this knowledge like me.

Sorry guy... you want the benefits and privileges of US Residency/Citizenship but don't want to live up to the obligations of a US Resident or Citizen (said obligation applies to all US PR's or Citizens without discrimination). No sympathy for you there...

I'm NSC > CSC > NSC guy. I had opened a SR back in Dec'07, REceived Biometric from NSC and went to the biometric. Had an LUD on our 485's however surprising 3 days after finger printing we received another set of FP's asking us to appear for FP!. The notice was exactly similar to the first. However the USCIS biometric manager at local field office sent us back saying NSC sent the second Biometric notice in error.
Now after 8 months after reading posts from other folks on this forum with issues related to X'ferred cases. I wonder why NSC sent a Duplicate FP.

I'm in the similar situation my wife hasn't rcvd EAD yet but we rcvd RN.
I suppose the RN you are talking about is refering to "Receipt Notice(s)"
So basically u got ur ead but ur wife hasnt. and both of ur status online show that both are approved?

Today I received final of the 3 email that USCIS sends:
Current Status: Approval notice sent.
On January 21, 2009, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT ..........................
So here is the order I received the emails for my approval. Hope this will help for people who are awaiting their approval in near future.
Jan 16, 09
Current Status: Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident.
On January 16, 2009, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent ......................
Jan 19, 09
Current Status: Card production ordered.
On January 16, 2009, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days.....

Current Status: Approval notice sent.
