No you can file for h1b extension only 6 months before expiry.
So get all your paper work ready and wait for 6 months time and then file early. By the way why do you want to apply 1 year in advance ? any particular reason ?

Situation: I have to sublet my apartment for a few months and will have to transfer the lease on the subletters' names, which means they will have their names on the mailbox for few months. After that, the lease will be on my name again. I am worried that in case if my GC comes in the next few months (being an optimist here), it may not get delivered if my name will not be on the mailbox.
Concern: I am hesitant to fill out the AR 11/address change form since I will have to do it again in a few months when I return; they haven't been found to be reliable (several members have posted related experiences, the most recent being:http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=16242

Hi,
I need some expert advice on my current situation. My six years of H1B will be completed this November 11th. My traditional labor is pending with BEC for a year, based on which we applied for extension and got approval for extension till Feb ?08 (1 year extension + recapture time during past six years). This approved H1B extension is from 12th Nov. ?06 to Feb. ?08.
I am planning to change employer, new employer is willing to apply for PERM immediately ? I was just waiting for this H1B extension approval.
My question is if I can transfer safely now or do I have to wait until Nov. 12th for the extended H1B become effective. If I apply for transfer say next week in Sept., can my present employer revoke the already approved H1B extension? If I do apply for transfer, is it safe to start working immediately or is it better to wait until approval of transfer?
My new employer wants me immediately and will start PERM process only after I joined (they are willing to give that assurance in the offer letter). I am also eager to join early so that I will be eligible for further H1B extension even if PERM+140 delays for some reason. until aproval of status because if you dont get approval and at the same time your current employer cancel the H1B..You will be out of status.

Hi techskill: I have asked this before in this posting to someone else. Was your medical exam complete in all respect? My wife's was not as she was pregnant then. The Doc didn't administer one shot.
Also to all of us whose files seem to be in the strange NSC Examination room: Yes, the Infopass IO told me that my case is all set. He didn't say if it was deficient in any way. I was just wondering if any of you guys have any such deficiency like medical?
All of us stuck here waiting are getting a prostate exam...and not a gentle one either. maybe thats why we must all be in the examination room.

You should call the college you are interested in or applying to and speak to the financial aid office they would be able to guide you. I know in Florida you do not get financial aid if you are on H-4. You should also try and get scholarships from the colleges or if the State of Georgia has any scholarships which may help lower the cost.

How it will be verified with SOC code mentioned in the AC21 with the new employer (where you take a new job). If Employer issue a letter with the job description you are looking for - I guess we should be good. Any thoughts?

Look up the university's website and its information regarding international students. Most information you need should be there if not, call/email them. That would be the best way for you to get most accurate information regarding tuition payment to the university you are applying to.

ya! that's why I think I mentioned, You all tell when you get the automated message "All calls are monitored for quality purpose" As I hear that I also tell "this conversation is recorded for the evidence purpose". See when they expect us to listen to a machine initially, they should expect to have a recording feature or same machine to LISTEN to user initially. I did use one time such conversations to show the next CSR that see how bad one of your team members is, (I ask the name, id etc, those where in the mesg), I got a nice response from the person and she did also ask me "Are you recording mine too, yes, that's what I told initially when I heard someone saying "All calls are monitored, you did not hear that ? :) .

And never expect a fiasco like July 2007, if you are expecting that.
USCIS is more cautious now, the PD movement will be 2 years in 3 months in that pace.
And do not mix Illegal with EB-category, there will be a seperate department crated for
illegal immigrants, and they already included in the summary, that Illegals should be
ready to wait for long years to get citizenship.
And all this is If "CIR PASSES" Only. there is only 5 % of chance passing it.
if it is not passing, our re-capture will be passes as amendment and then that is about it
so dont be worried unnecessarily.

On February 4, 2008, Michael Aytes, Director of Domestic Operations of the USCIS issued an interoffice memorandum to give a revised guidance for USCIS field offices' adjudication of I-485, I-601, I-687, and I-698 as related to the pending FBI name checks. According to the revised guidance, where the application is approvable and the FBI name check request has been pending for more than 180 days, the adjudicator "shall" approve the I-485, I-601, I-687, I-698 applications and proceed with card issuance. However, the approved applications shall be held at the adjudicating office, and the USCIS will determine if rescission or removal proceedings are appropriate and warrantged if derogatory or adverse information is received from the FBI after the application is approved. This is somewhat I feel and I may be wrong..
We need to come out in masses and get attention. Maybe we need to put out small number to teams to specialize in each area. A team, which deals with lobbies in DC, additional teams that is out there for PR and media coverage, separate teams to raise contributions, collect ideas from members - discusses and implements some of them.
Also get some high profile people to look into out goals and push them. Some big sponsors (undocumented workers got miller, we need someone too - Microsoft maybe). The media coverage should be saying out goals 'Documented workers need justice...etc' instead of 'Team IV on immigrationvoice....'
We need a headcount on this org and fax/send a common message to everyone with signatures (Like a petition IL had to give driving license to H4's) instead of requesting everyone to send a separate web fax (some members can visit this sites only in a couple of days and may miss sending wefaxes)
I have tired to ge more people like us to look and participate in this Movement but somehow they never bothered to join. We need to unite and re-unite.
We do need to plan something in masses. A march like the undocumented workers may not hurt, we too can be inspired like our bollywood directors.
The only way we are going to get our point out there is more media attention and awareness and what we are asking is fair. The articles I have seen so far 1. Do not have a big number of people involved in it (headcount), 2. More focused to promote 'www.immigrationvoice.org' then out goals 3. Have not reached out to right people (numberusa etc) 4. Have not been read / viewed / supported by the people to whom it is delivered.
And the biggest draw back I see is that we are like accessories to other bill, except SKIL. We need to come out of this tailgating and go through solo. If SKIL is out there, why is it not pushed? Why do people who are already citizens do not except us to get there. There is something missing and some brianers need to sit together and figure it out.
i will stop myself here and I do apologize if I have hurt anyone feelings and again, I may be wrong in what i say. If there is any way I can help, plz let me know

But then if we create unnecessary show of force - there is a good chance this will also get politicized - since there are always that small minority who feel US should be a closed country like in dark ages and ONLY they are eligible to belong here.
So whatever we do let us do it professioanllly and wothout much fan fare - so that we achieve our goals.
I wish all the best to all my fellow professioanls seeking to make a good life here and contribute to this great country.

Applied I140 and I485 concurrently during the July 2007 fiasco
I140 approved: Sept 08
GC Approved: Oct 08.

Thanks for clarifying this. I now know why its taking > 2 weeks after the ad has been removed after completing the 60 day period.
There's a cooling off period. Maybe other gurus can explain it with more info.
