Hi, as per my thread title, I was wondering if I have to use my lawyer for the EAD renewal process. I am confident I know what/where/how to file the application and the materials necessary and because I am a little strapped for cash I'd like to do this on my own without having my lawyer do it and charge me for it. Bad idea or doable, what do you guys think? Thanks!:)

What are the chances of passing of CIR this year? I would tell 80% chance in Senate and 50% in House. Of course this year there is better chance of CIR. But if they make more liberal than 2006 then it may be difficult in Senate also I was surprised that House does not give any strong support or strong opposition. May be they want to see what happens in Senate.Politics is important reason for CIR itself. Mccain wants to project Pro Latino for his aspiration of President. Bush want to achieve something in his presidency as Iraq was full flop. So he is keen for it. Immigration is only big issue Bush can project himself. Democrats want to win Presidency and also keep both the houses in next election. Democrats are pro labor as well as Pro immigrants. Those are opposite views. It is to be seen how they are going to have compromise.

If you search for businesses on google map search and give "Anna Salai, Chennai" some hotels pop up. However these seem to be the expensive Sheraton etc.

Just heard from some wonderful people in the HR that in their opinion, I cannot get payed till they have my H1B extension approval in hand! Of course, the same wonderful HR people waited till the VERY LAST DAY to file the extension! So I have to wait for 2-3 months to get paid, even though I reminded them 2-3 months back to get started on my renewal?
I am soooo done with this country and its semi-educated, inefficient and ignorant bureaucracy and its blood-sucking, greedy, exploitative employers.
The USPS won't forward my mail to my new address correctly after they send me the receipt for my change of address form!

Something is going terribly wrong with this country.

This is frustrating, but legal. All permanent residence visas are approved on the basis of a job that awaits you after granting of visa. If the employer now says that there is no job based on I-140, then it is a legal issue and one of the acceptable actions is withdrawal of I-140.
As many posters have indicated, do not leave the job and ask the employer to relieve you of your responsibilities (get fired). This may provide a justification for you to argue why you can't take a job based on original I-140, then look for similar job and you should be fine.

Could be- who knows....Perhaps the FOIA information whenever it is obtained if tallied with this may give us a better picture. Again this depends on what CIS interprets as PD or any other information per their "book of definitions" which I can almost gurantee is designed to save their behinds and realistically I doubt that they can gain such information with the mix and match of many variables.
DOS and Ombudsman have been trying for years to get the numbers from them including the new DHS secretary but no luck so far, atleast nothing which will indicate that these are close to the actual backlog numbers.
Previously some member had a letter from Jeff Flake's office regarding this. I dont remember the numbers from that letter but someone could pull that thread up and verify.
It was 51717 for Eb2 india and 70838 for Eb3 india. Total all Ebs for India is 125923. This is from PDF file some one poted on forum few weeks back regarding senator's reply to his / her query.

replace "legal Immigrant Community" with "Legal employment based Immigrant Community", we have to be very very very specific about who we are, we are employment based Legal Immigrant Community and not "legal immigrants", politicians in genereal and especially democrats and Obama in particular refer to family based immigrants as legal immigrants. EB immigrants dont even exist as far as Obama, Durbin and kennedy are concerned (please I am not making a political statement here, just stating the facts, so please dont get into obama\democrat praising\bashing)

Already applied for a new passport before I filed I-90.
applied by mail because that is what the consulate told me will work
What I am really missing is my company laptop. All my programs are in there , and I have to start from scrap. USCIS told me the info pass option. I am waiting on consulate to gimme passport.
I actually talked again to the cops. They are doing something they said ( today somebody else talked to me and appeared a lot more sensible. Else they have these "bouncers" who answer your call and reply to you like part time lawyers ) . Lets see what comes out. Hopefully that is not too little - too late
Yeah I paid for Biometrics fee ( again $80 + $270 new GC fee ) but it is not clear if USCIS does biometrics on every lost/stolen GC or only if your 15 month period expires.At one pt I was told you will definitely get FP'ed & other time they said , they need to FP you only if 15 months have passed.
Credit Monitoring Agency : Yes that is definitely an option worth a thought.
Course ..needless to say ...all CC's have been changed

In many cases when biometrics are done recently (< 15 months); the practice of USCIS varies, but chances are that they will send you for "limited biometrics": (one finger scan instead of all 10). In any case, stay on the top of it.
Looks like you did all you needed to do. The main issue now is the wait for the passport; for which I do not have much experience with in California (I did my last one at Chicago; that took about 4-6 weeks as far as I can remember...).
In any case, good luck! :)
